Notes for the users of house No. 92 in LahaniaPlease pay attention to following notes for the users
On arrivalBefore using electricity please switch on all main fuses. There are two switch boxes in the house. The first one is in the kitchen, when you enter the room on the right side behind the door. The second one is in the Sala, when you enter the room on the right hand side of the entrance door. Activate all single fuses. EXCEPTION! In the kitchen is a fuse labelled –Boiler–, please do not switch this one on. This one is for the electric warm water during the winter. During the summer the solar roof does it.
The main tap to turn off the fresh water is located on the left courtyard wall, on the right hand side of the bathroom door. During the water months it is permanently kept open for the automatic watering device. Please do not turn it off during watering season.
The bottle with the propane gas is on the left hand side of the fridge under the sink. Open the gas tap turning it to the left. For security reason please turn the main tap off after using the gas stove. Please take extra care when you handle gas!
Before using the fridge put in the plug.
If you should discover damages or serious fault before you start your holiday please let us know immediately.
The landlord can not be held responsible for improper use of staircases and devices. Tenants are responsible for any accidents in the house. Other legal liabilities are not effected.
General InformationIt could be that you are unlucky and run out of gas, in this case please get a new bottle of gas. You can buy them in Genadi. Don’t forget the empty refund bottle. Tools for loosening the pipe leading to the stove are on the gas bottle (or in the cupboard in the garden shed). We would like to ask you to take extra care when changing the gas bottles. Do not forget the sealing rings. After you have changed the bottles do a listening and smelling check on the gas connection.
The sewage of the toilet goes into a soakaway on the premise. Please do not throw any toilet paper, tampons, sanitary towels, cigarettes etc. into the toilet. There is a small waste bin for the proper disposal of these items in the WC.
Any rubbish from the kitchen or the house as well as other waste can be disposed in the waste bins put up in the village. One is on the road underneath the premise. Do not store any waste bins in the courtyard or in front of the house. Ants, cats, mice, rats or dogs take this as a welcome change of their menu.
If heavy rains and storm is coming up please close all windows, doors and shutters.
Please water the plants and trees in the garden and courtyard when needed. There is a “watering system” installed in the garden (black hose with timer, see above). The water tap for an additional hose is on the corner of the house next to the garden gate. A hose is in the courtyard and a watering can should be in the garden shed. Please don’t plant anything new in the garden.
A “manual worker” will find tools in the garden shed which would like to go back there after use. The “housewife” will find a washing machine which wants to be treated with care. The washing programmes will disclose themselves to the proficient user of those machines via the small pictures, numbers or notes next to the buttons. After the washing switch off the machine and wait one minute. After that the machine can be opened. The suds can be conducted into the garden using the hose. If you have a lot of washing be sure to put the end of the hose on different places. The connection for the water is also in the garden next to the gate and can be opened and closed there.
Herbs and ripe fruits may be used or be eaten, respectively. The best grapes grow directly in the courtyard.
There are no grocer’s or shops in the village. The Taverna Platanos is next to the church. The “Taverna Chrissis” restaurant run by the priest and his wife is on the main road. A Supermarket, a greengrocer’s, a bakery, a mobile fish monger, a bank, a moped- and scooter hire as well as additional cafenions and taverns can be found in the neighbouring village of Genadi (approx. 8 km).
You will find guidebooks, dictionary and books in the kitchen and/or in the room underneath the terrace.
A small medicine cupboard is in the bedroom underneath the terrace on the shelf on the left. In case of emergencies! There is a first aid station on the main road leading to Rhodes, right after the villages entrance of Genadi. The telephone number is in the medical cupboard.
When using the fireplaces please note! Never leave the fire unattended. Don’t leave any flammable materials to close by the open fire. Beware of flying sparks from conifers containing resin.
Lock the doors when staying away from the house for a longer period.
Should urgent repairs be necessary, the uncle of the owner, Yannis Galantomos, must be informed. To find his house please ask in the taverns or the people in the village. He has a key for the house (in case you lose yours).
