Summer Cottage on Rhodes

Lachania is a beautiful small villiage in the south of Rhodes. It is located 8 km from Genadi and 2 km from the beach and it lays in a extensive hilly and fruitfull landscape. The village belongs to the community of South Rhodes and was abandoned in the 80ties, when artists, social dropouts and foreign investors found Lachania a place to stay. They rent and renovated a lot of the traditional houses and they gave lachania an new style and regained a new consciousness for this old hamlet. Vintage windmills were restored and are used als living areas till today.  The name Lachania for this introspective and pictoral village results from its generative ground, because of its biological diversity and its cultivation of kale (greek lachano). There is nearly no tourism in Lachania all over the year.
The most residents live on farming and animal husbandry. The main square, near of the church, is a insider's tip. The Platanos Taverne brings a simple but elaborate traditional dinner beneath of shady sycamore trees.
